12th Gala No.1 of Central Lancs Prelim Age Groups. There was one 1st place, five 2nd places, five Lancashire Qualifying Times and 12 new personal bests achieved. Emily Cott (14) winning 50m Freestyle, 2nd in 200m IM and 50m Butterfly. Morgan Hartley (11) 2nd in 40m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke and 200m Breaststroke.
13th Gala No.2 of Central Lancs Prelim Age Groups. There was two 1st places, one 2nd place, a third place, four Lancashire Qualifying Times and 13 new personal bests. Emily Cott (14) winning 100m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle. Morgan Hartley (11) 2nd in 50m Breaststroke and 3rd in 200m Freestyle.
24th Sarah Price aka Princess held a Backstroke Swim Clinic.
26th Gala No.3 of Central Lancs Prelim Age Groups. There was one 3rd place, four Lancashire Qualifying Times and 15 new personal bests. Morgan Hartley (11) finishes 3rd in final of 50m Butterfly.
27th Gala No.4 of Central Lancs Prelim Age Groups. There was one 1st place, two Lancashire Qualifying Times and 5 new personal bests. Emily Cott (14) winning the final of the 50m Backstroke.
31st The most improved swimmers from June 2007 to January 2008 will be presented on Monday, 4th February.

February 2008

9th Freestyle and Breaststroke with starts and turns held by Dave Crouch - Ex Aquabears Coach. The session saw the swimmers presented with their new Friendly League Team Tee-Shirts which have been funded by an Awards for All Grant.
10th Rotherham Metro ASC Open Masters Meet held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield. Tony Catterall (60-64) wins 50m Breaststroke, 400m Individual Medley, 100m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle, he is 2nd in 400m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 200m Individual Medley and 100m Backstroke. Philip Croxall (35-39) is 2nd in 200m IM and 3rd in 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. Bob Whittaker (35-39) is 2nd in 400m Freestyle and 3rd in 200m Freestyle

March 2008

6th Colne hosted Ramsbottom in their first fixture of the Friendly League season. Colne won 31 of the 40 races to win by 71 points to 49. There were 19 new personal bests set by the Colne 'A' swimmers.
8th Lancashire County Championships Day 1. Ashleigh Dibb (9) finishes 5th in 50m Freestyle. Jack Workman (16) finishes 7th in the final of 100m Backstroke. Laura Foulkes (16) finishes 11th in 50m Freestyle.
9th Lancashire County Championships Day 2. Jack Workman (16) finishes 3rd in 200m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle. Joshua Finch (17) finishes 4th in final of 100m Butterfly. Laura Foulkes (16) finishes 7th in final of 100m Freestyle. Ashleigh Dibb (9) finishes 4th in 200m Breaststroke.
13th The Micro League fixture at Salt Ayre Pool on the 15th March has been cancelled.

Ashleigh Bidd (9) finishes 1st in 50m Backstroke and 5th in 50m Butterfly. Joshua Finch (17) finishes 2nd in 50m Butterfly in a National Youth QT, also finishes 6th in final of 100m Freestyle with a ASANWR Youth QT. Laura Foulkes (16) finishes 5th in 50m Butterfly. Jack Workman (16) got a ASANWR Youth QT in finishing 12th in 100m Freestyle.
16th Lancashire County Championships Day 4. There are a further 7 personal bests and 2 ASA North West Region Youth Qualifying Times. Ashleigh Dibb (9) finishes 4th in 50m Breaststroke and 6th in 200m Freestyle. Laura Foulkes (16) finishes 4th in 50m Breaststroke and 9th in 200m Freestyle. Joshua Finch (17) finishes 6th in 50m Freestyle with a ASANWR Youth QT. Jack Workman (16) finishes 6th in final of 100m Backstroke and 8th in 50m Freestyle which gained him a ASANWR Youth QT.
27th Colne hosted Pioneer '79 in their next fixture in the Friendly League. Despite winning the first few races it soon became a one sided contest as Pioneer won by 69 points to 50. There were several new personal bests amongst the Colne swimmers.
30th Darlington Dolphin Masters. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m and 100m Freestyle. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 200m Freestyle whilst preparing for World Masters. Philip Croxall (35-39) 2nd in 100m Breaststroke, also does 100m Breastroke in 100m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke in 200m Freestyle to prepare for World Masters. Bob Whittaker (35-39) 3rd in 200m Freestyle, 4th in 50m Breastroke, 5th in 100m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke.

2nd Emily Cott has been selected to represent the Great Britain Swimming Team at the International Catholic Student Games in Malta in July. The Club has donated £100 to help.
18th XII FINA World Masters Championships, Perth, Australia. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 6th in 800m Freestyle with a new personal best of 10:17.89.
19th XII FINA World Masters Championships, Perth, Australia. Philip Croxall (35-39) finishes 13th in 100m Breaststroke with a new long course personal best of 1:19.42.
19th Central Lancashire Championships at Manchester Aquatics Centre. Ashleigh Dibb (9yrs) wins 50m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke, 2nd 50m Butterfly and 3rd 50m Freestyle. Chris Bates (13yrs) 3rd 50m Backstroke.
23rd XII FINA World Masters Championships, Perth, Australia. Philip Croxall (35-39) finishes 10th in 200m Breaststroke with a new personal best of 2:53.40.
24th XII FINA World Masters Championships, Perth, Australia. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 8th in 400m Freestyle in a time of 5:04.21.
25th XII FINA World Masters Championships, Perth, Australia. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 19th in 3km Open Water Swim in the Swan River.
26th Scottish National Masters in Glasgow. Steve Craig (50-54) finishes 3rd in 200m Freestyle, 3rd in 400m Freestyle and 7th in 50m Freestyle, all in new personal best times.
27th Colne travelled to Salt Ayre Pool in Lancaster for their first Micro League fixture. Colne finished 4th with Southport B 1st, Lancaster 2nd and Ormskirk in 3rd place.
28th Colne travelled to Ramsbottom for our first away fixture of the Friendly League. Colne won by 63 points to 56, which meant that it was the first time that Colne has beaten Ramsbottom home and away in the same season.

May 2008

9th Colne travelled to the Hyndburn Pool in Accrington to take on Pioneer '79 in the Friendly League. Despite 11 new personal bests by the Colne swimmners, it was Pioneer that was victorious by 67 points to 52.
10th A Starts and Turns workshop was run by Dave Crouch, primarily concentrating on Butterfly and Backstroke.
10th At Yorkshire SA Open Masters Championships at Scarborough. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle events. Philip Croxall (35-39) is 2nd in 100m Butterfly and 3rd in 50m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke.
18th Colne finish 3rd in Micro League fixture held at Blackpool. Carnforth were the runaway winners with a huge 174 points folllowed by Blackpool on 127, with Colne on 92 and Preston 'B' last with 75 points. Preston were deducted points for swimming inelligible swimmers.
22nd Top British Swimmer Steve Parry known as The Big Show, who finished 3rd in the 200m Butterfly at the Athens Olympics in 2004, held a Swim Clinic concentrating on aspects of Butterfly. There was a one hour session for the younger swimmers and a harder one hour session for the older swimmers. The swimmers enjoyed the sessions given by Steve. This clinic was the third of four such clinics which was provided by a Grant from Awards For All. The forth and last clinic will be held in October by Chris Cook who will be representing Britain in the forth-coming Beijing Olympics. Hopefully he will bring back a medal to show our swimmers.
31st At Gateshead & Whickham Masters Meet there was a total of 20 wins out of 28 swims. Stephen Smith (40-44) won 50m and 100m Freestyle and was the fastest person in the Pool. Tony Catterall (60-64) won 8 events and 2nd in the other two. Philip Croxall (35-39) won 4 events and was 2nd in the other two. Karen Driver (35-39) also won 4 events and was 2nd in the other one. Steve Craig (50-54) won 1 event, was 2nd in two others and 3rd in the final two.

June 2008

12th Colne hosted Great Harwood in the Friendly League. The Colne swimmers recorded 15 new personal bests amongst the boys and 19 amongst the girls as the team won by 64 points to 52.
14th Colne finish 4th with 81 points in the Micro League fixture held at Lancaster. Carnforth finished first with 176 points, with Lancaster second with 132 points and Clitheroe third with 93 points.
20th At British Swimming Masters Championships held at Aquatics Centre, Manchester. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 1500m Freestyle, Bob Whittaker (35-39) is 4th and Tony Catterall (60-64) is also 4th. Tony later wins 200m Individual Medley and 2nd in 200m Breaststroke. Philip Croxall (35-39) is 3rd in 200m Breaststroke.
21st Day 2 of British Swimming Masters Championships see Karen Driver (35-39) win 400m and 800m Freestyle events. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m Freestyle but is 2nd in 100m Freestyle by 0.02 of a second. Philip Croxall (35-39) is 8th in 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle events.
22nd Day 3 of British Swimming Masters Championships. Karen Driver (35-39) is 3rd in 200m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) is 5th in 200m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (35-39) is 4th in 50m Breaststroke and 5th in 100m Breaststroke with the former in a new Personal Best time.

July 2008

3rd The most improved swimmers from January are James Robbins and Elsie Chadwick. James had a massive improvement of 15.40%, and Elsie improved by 6.83%.
5th Colne hosted their Micro League fixture against teams from Blackpool, Southport and Clitheroe. Southport won with 165 points with Blackpool second on 131, Clitheroe third with 94 and Colne with 87 points.
10th In the last home fixture of the Friendly League Season, Colne were hosts to Haslingden. Right from the outset Colne proved too strong for the visitors as they won by 65 points to 53. During the course of the evening the Colne swimmers recorded 35 new personal bests with 15 to the boys and 20 to the girls.
18th Emily Cott helps Great Britain to Gold in the Medley Relay at the World Catholic Schools Games held in Malta.
24th Next trials for entry to the Swimming Club have moved from 4th September to Thursday, 2nd October due to a teachers course.
25th Pendle Sports Awards Nominations. The Club is on the short list for the Community Club of the Year. Coach Andrew Croxall is on the short list for the Coach of the Year. The awards evening is on Saturday, 6th September at the Colne Municipal Hall.

6th At the Halton Masters 1st Masters Open Sprint Meet, Philip Croxall (35-39) was 2nd in 100m Butterfly and 200m Freestyle, and 3rd in 100m Individual Medley and 100m Breaststroke. Steve Craig (50-54) was 3rd in 50m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle, 4th in 100m Individual Medley and 5th in 50m Freestyle.
6th At 4th Annual Pendle Sports Awards coach Andrew Croxall was named as joint winner in the Coach of the Year category. The Club was runner-up in the Community Club of the Year and Thomas Wilson was third in the Young Volunteer of the Year Category.
20th ASANER Open Masters 2008, held at the Neptune Centre, Middlesbrough. Karen Driver (35-39) set new personal bests in the 50m and 100m Freestyle, in which she was 2nd in the 50m and 1st in the 100m. She was also 1st in the 200m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) won the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle events. Philip Croxall (35-39) won the 200m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke was 3rd in 200m Individual Medley and finished 5th in 100m Freestyle and 6th in 100m Breaststroke.
20th 26th Annual Teaspoon Gala saw Ashleigh Dibb (10) and Josh Finch (18) finish 3rd in their respective finals of the 50m Butterfly. There was 7 finals and 8 new personal best times set amongst the 6 swimmers.
20th Micro League B Division Swim-Off. Colne were relegated as they finished 4th in a four team swim-off. Garstang and Rosegrove were promoted from C Division and Preston were relegated along with Colne.
29th In the Friendly League, Colne lose away to Haslingden by 58 points to 59. Despite this there was some encouraging performances from the swimmers.

13th Colne travelled to Great Harwood in our last Friendly League Fixture of the Season. In what proved to be a close contest, with races being decided by fractions of a second, Colne edged out their hosts by 61.5 points to 55.5.
18th-19th Over the weekend, 4 swimmers competed at the Warburtons Central Lancashire Age Groups (Bury). Although no medals were achieved there were no fewer than 6 personal bests.
23rd Aquateer Swim Clinic by Cooky Monster - aka Chris Cook. Chris who finished 6th in the 100m Breaststroke final at the Olympics, showed the young swimmers of Colne how to improve their Breaststroke.
24th At the asa National Masters Championships. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 1500m Freestyle with a time of 19:11.97. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m Freestyle in a time of 24.74. John Penswick (70-74) finishes 3rd in 1500m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (35-39) finishes 4th in 200m Breaststroke. Bob Whittaker (35-39) finishes 6th in 1500m Freestyle.
25th At the asa National Masters Championships. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 100m Freestyle in a time of 54.90. Philip Croxall (35-39) finishes 4th in 400m Freestyle and 8th in 100m Breaststroke.
26th At the asa National Masters Championships. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 2nd in 800m Freestyle and 4th in 200m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) finishes 2dn in 200m Freestyle.

1st Steve Smith, Philip Croxall and John Penswick have been selected to represent Lancashire at the forthcoming Inter-County Masters.
13th At first Championship Gala there were four new records set. Laura Foulkes set new marks for the Mary Lane Trophy (16+ 100m Frontcrawl) and Presidents Cup (16+ 50m Frontcrawl). Ashleigh Dibb set new marks for the Bramhill Cup (10 & under 25m Backstroke) and Dot Hartley Trophy (10 & under 100m Individual Medley).
14th The Friendly League End of Season Gala was held at Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne. The Division One winners and runners-up, Pioneer 79 and Colne took on the Division Two winners and runners-up, Burnley and Accrington. Pioneer 79 won with points with Colne second on points, Burnley 3rd with points and Accrington 4th on points.
15th The Betty Petty Trophies were held and 11 girls and 6 boys took part. They were judged on Starts, Turns, Stroke and Finish for Backstroke, Breaststroke and Frontcrawl. The winners will be announced on Friday, 5th December at the Colne Cricket Club.
15th At Macclesfield Pool one of five Inter-County Masters were held. This meet was between Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Northumberland & Durham. Philip Croxall and John Penswick represented the Lancashire Team. John finished 3rd in the 65+ 50m Breaststroke, he also swam Breaststroke in Mixed 240+ 4x50 Medley Team and Mixed 260+ 4x50 Medley Team. Philip swam Breaststroke in the Mens 160+ 4x50 Medley Team and swam the Frontcrawl leg in the Mens 200+ 4x50 Medley Team. Lancashire finished 3rd on the night behind Cheshire, but the final outcome will not be known until the final meet takes place next weekend.
20th At second Championship Gala there were five records set. Abbie Hampshire set a new mark for the Wilkinson Trophy (8 & under 25m Frontcrawl). Ashleigh Dibb set a further two new marks for the Provincial Trophy (10 & under 25m Butterfly) and Woodthorpe White Trophy (10 & under 25m Breaststroke). Emily Cott set a new mark for the Silver Jubilee Goblet (15 & under 100m Individual Medley). Joshua Finch set a new mark for the Gents Senior Championship (open 200m Freestyle).

3rd Committee Meeting cancelled due to the bad weather.
4th The Annual Sprint Gala was again well attended as everybody likes doing one length. The age group winners were for the girls Molly Chapman (7), Abbie Hampshire (8), Samantha Titterton (9), Celia Foulkes (10), Olivia Pratt and Katie Farrar (11), Emma Brooks (12), Francesca Harrison-Bradley (13), Emily Hunt (14), Emily Cott (15) and Rebecca Berry and Jade Robinson (16+). For the boys it was Charlie Hesketh (7), Charles Nolan (8), Christian Butschok-Brain (9), Dominic Hartley (10), Jack Coyne (11), Daniel Grant (12), Jacob Kalan (13), Alex Berry (14), Sam Bainbridge (15) and Philip Croxall (16+).
5th At the Annual Presentation and Disco the trophies were awarded to the winners of the Championship Galas and last nights Sprint Gala. The Two Alberts Trophy was awarded to Stanley Hendley, the John Dobbin Memorial Trophy was awarded to Francesca Santabarbara and the Bramhill Memorial Trophy was awarded to Daniel Grant. The Spot-On winner was Abbie Hampshire who was only 0.03 seconds of her sumbmitted time. The Betty Petty Style Trophy winners were announced as Jack Coyne and Charlotte Titterton.
5th The Club Captains for 2009 were announced and the Gents Senior Captain is Joshua Finch and the Ladies Senior Captain isLaura Foulkes. The Boys Junior Captain is Jack Coyne and the Girls Junior Captain is Olivia Pratt.
12th Photo and presentation made to Stanley Hendley at his last Adult Learner Session as he officially retires from any active involvement in the Club.
