The Minutes of the last Zoom meeting were read and duly signed as correct.

Matters arising:

1. The Presentation and Disco had been very well attended with only a couple of swimmers not able to receive their trophies. At present they have all been collected. A representative from Pendleside Hospice had been able to attend and collect their cheque.

2. John had sent us the final accounts for the year, thanks to the sponsored swim our losses were significantly reduced. Many thanks were given to John for his work over the years.
Oz was still waiting to hear from Nat West to update our accounts. He had also looked into the possibility of using a card reader for the club. Philip pointed out that there was an email address for Treasurer @ colne-asc.co.uk, he would forward Oz the relevant details.

3. We were awaiting the delivery of the club t shirts.

4. I requested photos of the committee members who were missing from our notice board in order to update it.

5. Philip asked if committee members could think about a Club Trip for the swimmers sometime towards the end of June.

6. Our first gala, The Cherry Wilkinson Age Group Gala, would be held on Thursday 10th February. There would be no presentation of most improved swimmer trophy until the next one in June. I would issue all swimmers certificates with their times on.

Full Committee F. Roberts,M. Turner, K. Critchley

The Minutes of the last Zoom meeting were read and duly signed as correct.

Matters arising:

1 We were still awaiting the delivery of the club t shirts. I had been in contact with them and they should be with us shortly. It was decided because of the length of time that EF- Foundry were taking a rather long time to deliver our order these days, we would try the supplier that we used for our Hoodies, which was Jay-Bee supplies, Earby.

2. Several suggestions were made for our Club Trip this year, I would look into them and produce a survey form to be handed to the swimmers to get the general feeling of what they would like to do.

3. Oz produced his first balance sheet with a list of all the people who had paid by BACS. Things still had not been resolved with Nat West over the change-over of signees. Hopefully by the next meeting it would have been resolved. Oz would set up a card reader for the Clubs use.

4. The Friendly League was re-starting with a few tweaks to the programme. There would be Gt. Harwood, Accrington, Burnley Bobcats and ourselves competing. All the gala dates had not yet been finalised, our first gala would be Monday 24th April at Home. We do need a new Team Manager as Cara was no longer able to do the job.

5 Our first gala, The Cherry Wilkinson Age Group Gala, would be held on Thursday 10th February. There would be no presentation of most improved swimmer trophy until the next one in June. I would issue all swimmers certificates with their times on.

7. The first Club Trials of the year would be tomorrow Thursday 3rd February, and then 3rd March.

8. The next meeting would be via Zoom on Wednesday 2nd March at 8.00p.m.

The meeting finished at 8.40pm.
10th Cherry Wilkinson Memorial Age Group Gala - February

There were only 13 boys and 25 girls participating in the January Age Group gala.
There will be no Most Improved Swimmer award this time, as it has been two years since our last age group gala, but all swimmers who did all four strokes this time, will be eligible for the Most Improved Swimmer Award in June.
There were 9 boys and 18 girls who did all four strokes this time.

July 2022

Date Event
2nd Club Trip - Outdoor Elements

The day started cloudy with heavy showers of rain as 24 children made their way to the Outdoor Elements Activity Centre just outside Simonstone. They were chaperoned by Club Chairman Philip Croxall, Club Coach Andrew Croxall and Teacher Frankie Roberts. The parents were offered a chance to stay, but they soon disappeared, some a bit too quick!
The children aged between 5 and 14 took part in five activities during the day, which were Archery, Leap of Faith, Tree Climbing, Crate Stacking and both the Mega and Super Zip Lines. The Super Zip Line was aimed at the younger children. The younger children should have been Fire Lighting, but this was changed to Crate Stacking, of which, they enjoyed immensely, especially when the tower of crates came tumbling down.
As the day progressed the sun came out followed by some more rain, but by the end of the day, the clouds had gone (mostly) away. It was a fun day and enjoyed by all the children who attended, and when asked they prefered the activities at Outdoor Elements to swimming in the Club sessions. I wonder why?

Photos of the day's activities will be available to browse on the Club website soon.

Present: A. Croxall, J. Croxall, P. Croxall, M. Ennis, M. Turner, K. Critchley, F. Roberts.

Matters arising:

1. The Minutes of the last Zoom meeting were read and duly signed as correct.
(i) It was decided to charge £5 for the remaining T Bag t shirts we had in stock, I had also ordered a few more swimming costumes and was waiting price lists for the hoodies.
(ii) We were still awaiting the dates for the Accrington Friendly League Galas.

2. Oz had sent September's Bank statement to everyone, there had not been much activity. He had paid Pendle Leisure for the small pool hire on the 25th August when we had cancelled it. Pendle Leisure would deduct that amount from our next bill. We were still doing fine and now had a total of 90 members who had paid.

3. Correspondence, we had received details of how much ASA fees were going up next year for the majority of our swimmers it would only be 15p.
We had also received information from Swim England about HMRC's Trust Registration Service, but as we did not have any trustees it would not affect us.

4. The Annual General Meeting for this year would be on Wednesday 12th October commencing 7.30pm. It was decided that it would be a Zoom meeting. Notices would be put on the notice board and leaflets handed out to parents.

5. The next Friendly League's would be on Friday 30th September against Bobcats and Monday 3rd October against Great Harwood. Great Harwood wanted to re-arrange our home fixture with them but the date they gave us wasn't possible so it looks like we wouldnt have time to do any more Friendly League Galas this year.

6. Our Swim Mark was soon due for submission, I was still waiting for Deryn to complete her D.B.S.

7. Forms would be sent out for our Championship Galas in November.

8. The Annual Presentation and Disco for 10th December and yet to be confirmed.

9. The next Club trials would be on Thursday 6th October, the next one would be 3rd November, which would be the last one this year. As Lane 1 on a Monday was quite full, the only swimmers we would take on a Monday were those of a higher standard.

26th Friendly League

The Friendly League fixture at home to Great Harwood on Thursday, 20th October is no longer cancelled. It will be on as scheduled with the warm-up starting at 7:00pm.
As this is a home fixture, the lessons in the large pool will be cancelled.
30th Friendly League

It was a with a very depleted team that the young Colne swimmers travelled to the Padiham Leisure Centre to take on Burnley Bobcats in the Friendly League.
It was never going to be a win as we were unable to provide swimmers for some the races due to the restrictions on the number of 'A' swims that a swimmer can do. Despite this, the Colne swimmers put on a valiant effort and recorded 7 victories over the course of the night, and had 22 new personal bests between them, with 14 for the girls and 8 for the boys.
The final score was 70 points to Burnley and 32 to Colne.

Date Event
3rd Friendly League

A letter of complaint would be sent to the Chairman of the Cricket Club about the way we have been treated.
• After a short discussion is was decided to hold it at the Sports Centre on Saturday 10th December, 2.00pm - 5.00pm. Food would be provided, and Frankie would provide the music.

20th Friendly League Fixture

We hosted our final league fixture of the season against Great Harwood at the Pendle Leisure Centre.
There were quite a few close races, of which we won eight, but the visitors proved to be far too strong as we lost by 47 points to 70, despite the best efforts of the swimmers as they recorded a further 13 new personal bests amongst the boys, and 16 for the girls.

It has proved to be a difficult campaign as we have been swimming depleted teams against much stronger opposition, but the progress of swimmers has been encouraging, along with an increase in membership it is looking better for the 2023 campaign.

This year we held our Annual Presentation within the sports hall at the Pendle Leisure Centre. Unusually it was an afternnon presentation rather than an evening one. A good job too, as England were playing France at 7pm, which would have had an impact if the Nelson Cricket Club honoured our booking.

Despite being a bit cold in the sports hall we opened the buffet and provided tea, coffee and orange cordial, then started the presentation. The first trophy winners were for the John Dobbin Memorial Trophy which went to Lacey Hall, and the Bramhill Memorial Trophy which was presented to Daniel Warner.

The trophies won at the recent Championship Galas were handled out along with the age group winners of the Christmas Sprint Gala.
The winners of the Betty Petty Style Trophy were Betsy Rider and Oleksandr Matsaniuk.

The Spot-On Competition winners were announced as Belle Tattersall in third place winning £5, Adison Croxall in second place winning £10 and Isabelle Teal in first place winning £20.

The Two Alberts Trophy for Services to the Club went to Simon Smith-Shelley, unfortunately he wasn't there, so his wife and daughter collected the trophy on his behalf.

The captains for 2023 were announced as Thomas and Eleanor Holgate with the Junior Captains being Luke Chew and Betsy Rider.
