Tony Catterall who returned to competition this year, competed in the 70 to 74 years age group and finished 1st in the 800m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley.
23rd Carlisle Aquatics Masters Meet 2016

On day two of the meet Tony Catterall (70-74) finished 1st in the 200m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 100m Individual Medley, 200m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, 200m Individual Medley, 200m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and 50m Breaststroke, and was 2nd in the 50m and 100m Freestyle events.

He was also named as the top male swimmer of the meet.
23rd/24th Rotherham Metro A & B Grade Long Course Meet 2016

a team of 7 swimmers from Colne ASC took part in the Rotherham Metro A & B Grade Long Course Meet 2016 at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield. There were only Maria Massey and Saskia Daly who achieved A Grade times.

Maria Massey (11 years) best results were 32nd in the A Grade 50m Freestyle and 9th in the B Grade 50m Backstroke.
Saskia Daly (11 years) best results were 33rd in the A Grade 50m Freestyle and 12th in the B Grade 200m Freestyle.
Mia Dodman (11 years) best result was 4th in the B Grade 100m Freestyle.
Danielle Baxter (13 years) best result was 5th in the B Grade 50m Freestyle.
Emily Massey (13 years) was swimming in the Multi-Disability category and her best result was 7th in the B Grade 50m Freestyle and 1st in the MD category.
Eleanor Root (14 years) best result was 1st in the B Grade 50m Freestyle.
Grace Root (10 years) best result was 1st in the B Grade 50m Breaststroke.
23rd Lancashire County Age Group Championships. Gala 1.

On the weekends of 23rd/24th and 30th/31st January there were the four days of the Lancashire County Age Group Championships which were held at Manchester Aquatics Centre. Miranda Bower swimming in the 16 years age group was the sole representative from Colne ASC.

Miranda finished 1st in the 200m Breaststroke.
24th Lancashire County Age Group Championships. Gala 2.

Miranda Bower (16) finished 1st equal in the heats of the 100m Backstroke but ended up finishing 5th in the final.
30th Lancashire County Age Group Championships. Gala 3.

Miranda Bower (16) in the 100m Freestyle was 12th in the heats and missed out on the Final.
In the 50m Breaststroke she was 1st in the heats and maintained that position as she won the final.
31st Lancashire County Age Group Championships. Gala 4.

In the 50m Backstroke Miranda was 5th in the heats, but declined a place in the final to concentrate on the 100m Breaststroke.
In the 100m Breaststroke she was 1st in the heats and maintained that position by winning the final.

4th The January Age Group Gala was swum a week later due to the Teachers Course. It was well attended on Girls side but was a bit disappointing in the number of boys competiting.
8th The Most Improved Swimmers from June 2015 were Max Harper and Dominica Taylor, who both made hude improvements. Max received his trophy from Club Secretary Joan Croxall.
11th Dominica Taylor received her award for the Most Improved Swimmer from Club Coach Andrew Croxall.
19th Our fantastic supporters have raised £41.15 for Colne Amateur Swimming Club in the last quarter. Period October to December 2015
20th ASA North West Region Masters Championships.

Two swimmers from the Colne ASC Masters Team travelled to the Palatine Leisure Centre in Blackpool for the ASA North West Region Masters Championships 2016.

Tony Catterall swimming in the 70 to 74 years age group was in fine form as he set 7 new North West Region Records of which 5 of them were North West All Comers Records. These records can only be set in this Championship event.
He finished 1st in the 800m Freestyle setting a new North West Region and All Comers record, 1st in the 100m Individual Medley, 2nd in the 100m Freestyle, 1st in the 100m Breaststroke, 1st in the 200m Backstroke setting a new North West Region record, 1st in the 400m Freestyle setting a new North West Region and All Comers record, 1st in the 200m Freestyle setting a new North West Region record, 1st in the 200m Individual Medley setting a new North West Region and All Comers record, 1st in the 400m Individual Medley setting a new North West Region and All Comers record and 1st in the 1500m Freestyle setting a new North West Region and All Comers record.

Stephen Tyler swimming in the 50 to 54 years age group finished 3rd in the 100m Breaststroke, 5th in the 50m Breaststroke and 1st in the 200m Breaststroke.
29th Friendly League

The Colne ASC Swim Team travelled the short distance down the M65 to the Hyndburn Leisure Centre in Accrington. It was the our first fixture in this seasons North East Lancs Friendly League. We were up against Accrington in Division Two having been relegated last season.

Right from the first race Colne showed their intentions in only making it a single season in Division Two. In fact they proved far too strong for our hosts and won by a convincing 70 points to 45.

Our next fixture is against Accrington again, but this time it will be at the Pendle Leisure Centre on Monday, 21st March.

19th Micro League

We held our home gala in this season's Micro League of the North West for swimmers aged 9 to 12 years. The visiting teams were from Prescot, Lytham St. Annes and Kirkham.

Right from the beginning of the gala, the Prescot team were proving a bit too strong for the other three teams. It seemed to go Prescot win, Colne win, Prescot win, Lytham win, Prescot win, Kirkham win, and so on throughout the course of the evening.

At the half way stage of the gala Colne had 52 points, Kirkham also on 52 points and Lytham on 51 points, whilst Prescot were way out in front on 71 points.

By the end of the gala Prescot had stretched their lead to win with 157 points. Lytham St. Annes finished 2nd on 111 points, with Kirkham in third place on 101 points. Colne finished in 4th place with 94 points.

The young swimmers from Colne did themselves proud despite the loss as they managed 30 new personal bests between them, with 16 for the girls and 14 for the boys.
21st Friendly League

We hosted Accrington in our first home fixture of this season’s North East Friendly League, which was a reversal of the fixture from a few weeks ago. The contest is split up into four age groups – 9/10, 11/12, 13/14 and Open.

Colne started the gala in fine form by winning the first 10 races, then slowly over the next 15 or so, Accrington pegged back Colne to draw level. After that we re-established our dominance by winning the majority of the remaining races to win by 66 points to 51.

Over the course of the evening the swimmers from Colne set no fewer than 35 new personal bests, with 18 set by the girls and 17 by the boys.

22nd Scottish Masters Short Course Championships. Day One

Tony Catterall was the sole representation from Colne ASC to take part in the Scottish Masters Short Course Championships held at the Aberdeen Sports Village Aquatics Centre.
Competing in the 70 to 74 years age group he finished 1st in the 800m Freestyle, 400m Individual Medley, 200m Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley. He was 2nd in 100m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke.
23rd Scottish Masters Short Course Championships. Day Two

Tony Catterall (70-74) finished 1st in the 200m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 400m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke. He was 2nd in the 100m Individual Medley, 200m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle, and 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke.
23rd Micro League

We travelled to the Salt Ayre Leisure Centre, Lancaster for our next fixture with a severely depleted team. Of the 49 races we had to declare 15 due to a lack of swimmers. We were up against our hosts Carnforth B and teams from Blackpool B and Lytham St. Annes.

We ended finishing the gala in fourth place with 79 points as we won 9 of the 49 races. The top two teams were Carnforth B and Lytham St. Annes who both finished with 130 points. In third place were Blackpool B on 90 points.
30th Blackpool Rocks 2016

The Blackpool Rocks 2016 Level 3 meet was held at the Palatine Leisure Centre in Blackpool.

Eleanor Root (14) finished 12th in 200m Freestyle, 13th in 100m Breaststroke and 17th in the 50m Breaststroke.

The Blackpool Rocks 2016 Level 3 meet was held at the Palatine Leisure Centre in Blackpool.

Saskia Daly (11) finished 12th in the 50m Freestyle, 25th in the 100m Freestyle and 29th in the 50m Butterfly

Mia Dodman (11) finished 18th in the 100m Freestyle and 26th in the 50m Butterfly.
14th Yorkshire SA Open Masters Championships 2016

There were four members of the Masters Team taking part in the Yorkshire SA Open Masters Championships at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds. Also it was the first time that Colne were able to field a relay team.

Tony Catterall (70-74) finished 1st in 200m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 100m Backstroke, 400m Freestyle, 100m Individual Medley and 100m Freestyle, and was 2nd in 100m Breaststroke.

Philip Croxall (45-49) finished 1st in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Individual Medley, was 2nd in the 200m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 400m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke, was 4th in the 50m Freestyle and 5th in the 50m Butterfly.

Stephen Tyler (50-54) finished 1st in the 400m Freestyle, and 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke.

Daniel Dawson (40-44) finished 3rd in the 100m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke, was 4th in 50m Breaststroke and 7th in the 50m Freestyle.

All four swimmers combined to compete in the 200 years plus Mens 4x50m Freestyle Relay in which they finished 2nd.
15th Micro League

The young Colne swimmers travelled to the Darwen Leisure Centre for the third fixture of the season. Yet again we were unable to field a full team, as 10 races had to be declareed due to a lack of swimmers. We were up against our hosts Garstang and teams from Leyland and Preston B.

We finished the gala in fourth place with 81 points just behind hosts Garstang who finished with 92 points in third place. The gala was won by a strong team from Leyland who finished with 152 points from Preston B on 136 points.
16th Friendly League

The Colne team travelled to the Mercer Leisure Centre in Great Harwood to take on the Otters in what is possibly one of the smallest competition pools in the country, with a length of 22 yards.

It proved to be a close contest, but the hosts superior turning ability showed as they stretched out a lead to win the contest by 66 points to 52.
26th Friendly League

Colne were hosts to Todmorden in what proved to be a one-sided contest as we won 31 of the 40 races, with Todmorden winning 8 and the other a tie, as Colne won the gala by 71 points to 48.

Over the course of the evening the Colne swimmers managed 22 new personal bests, with 12 amongst the girls and 10 for the boys.

16th Friendly League

Colne were hosts to Darwen in yet again proved to be a one-sided contest as we won 33 of the 40 races, with Darwen winning the remaining 7, as we won by 72 points to 46.

Over the course of the evening the Colne swimmers managed 29 new personal bests, with 19 amongst the girls and 10 for the boys.
25th Micro League

On the afternoon of Saturday, 25th June, a young Colne ASC team travelled to the West View Leisure Centre in Preston for their final league fixture in this seasons Micro League of the North West. They were up against hosts Preston B and teams from Prescott A and Carnforth B.

The gala started off with Prescott surging into a lead by winning eight of the first nine races. They never relinquished first position as they went on to win the gala with 164 points. Initially Preston tried to match the team from Liverpool, but in the end they were nearly 30 points adrift in second place on 136 points.

Colne and Carnforth kept pace with each other and there was only 5 points between the two teams at the half way stage. But the second half of the gala proved too much for Colne as they trailed in on 76 points with Carnforth in 3rd place on 102 points.

Throughout the course of the afternoon, the young Colne swimmers managed only 2 new personal bests amongst the girls and 1 for the boys.
Colne have now finished their campaign with 327 points over the four galas, and with one round to go, Kian Noon (10) is currently rated as the top boy swimmer in the Division.
30th June Age Group Gala

There were a total of 20 boys and 43 girls who took part in the June Age Group Gala. This meant that there were 10 boys and 13 girls who qualified for the Most Improved Swimmer for June. Presentation of this award will take place on Thursday, 7th July.

The Most Improved Swimmers for June are Lewis Wilkinson and Dominica Taylor. Lewis had an 18.31% improvement since January, and Dominica improved by 19.44%.

Lewis and Dominica were both presented their trophies by Club Secretary Joan Croxall.
9th Manchester Summer Open Meet

4 girls from Colne ASC competed in the Manchester Summer Meet 2016 held at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.

Charlotte Leigh (12 years) finished 4th in the 100m Breaststroke, 5th in the 50m Breaststroke, 6th in the 100m Butterfly, 9th in the 50m Butterfly, 11th in the 200m Individual Medley and 21st in the 50m Freestyle.

Saskia Daly (11 years) finished 5th in the 50m Freestyle, 9th in the 100m Freestyle, 23rd in the 50m Butterfly, 24th in the 50m Breaststroke and 31st in the 50m Backstroke.

Mia Dodman (12 years) finished 10th in the 100m Freestyle, 11th in the 50m Butterfly, 13th in the 100m Backstroke, 16th in the 50m Backstroke, 20th in the 50m Freestyle and 21st in the 50m Breaststroke.

Rachel Leigh (14 years) finished 5th in the 100m Breaststroke, 7th in the 200m Individual Medley, 8th in the 50m Breaststroke, 9th in the 100m Backstroke and 13th in the 100m Freestyle.
9th Cheshire County Masters Championships

Two members of the Colne ASC Masters team took part in the Cheshire County Masters Championships at the Grand Central Pools in Stockport, which was held on the Saturday evening.

Philip Croxall competing in the 45 to 49 years age group finished 1st in the 400m Freestyle, 2nd in the 50m Breaststroke, 3rd in the 50m Freestyle, 4th in the 50m Butterfly and 5th in the 50m Backstroke.

Stephen Tyler competing in the 50 to 54 years age group finished 2nd in the 400m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke events.
11th Friendly League

The Colne ASC team travelled down the length of the M65 to Darwen for their most recent fixture in this seasons North East Lancs Friendly League.

From the first race to the last, the Colne team showed their dominance as they won 33 of the 40 races available. This meant that Colne won by 73 points to 41.

During the course of the evening there were a further 23 new personal bests, with 10 amongst the girls and 13 for the boys.

Our next fixture is after the summer break on Monday, 19th September away at Todmorden.
16th/17th Rotherham Metro A/B Graded Summer Meet 2016

Two swimmers from Colne ASC took part in the Rotherham Metro A/B Graded Summer Meet 2016 at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield. Saskia Daly managed 4 A Graded times which included a 2nd place in the 50m Freestyle, and Mia Dodman who managed a 1st, 2nd and 3rd of B Grade times in the freestyle events.

4th Lancashire County Masters Championships 2016

Two members of the Colne ASC Masters team travelled to the Palatine Leisure Centre, Blackpool for the Lancashire County Masters Championships 2016.

Tony Catterall swimming in the 70 to 74 years age group finished 1st in the 100m Individual Medley, the 200m Freestyle, the 50m Backstroke, the 200m Backstroke, the 200m Breaststroke, the 100m Backstroke and in the 200m Individual Medley. This was despite being made to celebrate his 70th birthday by his family on the evening before.

Philip Croxall swimming in the 45 to 49 years age group finished 1st in the 100m Breaststroke, the 100m Butterfly and the 100m Freestyle. He also finished 2nd in the 100m Individual Medley and the 100m Backstroke.
19th Friendly League

The Colne ASC swimmers travelled to Todmorden for the penultimate fixture in this seasons North East Lancs Friendly League.

It proved to be comfortable victory for the Colne swimmers as they beat their hosts, 71 points to 49.

During the course of the evening the Colne swimmers managed 18 further new personal bests with 6 for the girls and 12 for the boys.
24th Rotherham Metro A/B Graded September Meet 2016

There were two member of Colne ASC taking part in the Rotherham Metro ASC A/B Graded September Meet, held at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

Saskia Daly (11) had finished 9th in the A Grade 200m Freestyle, 1st in the B Grade 50m Butterfly, 4th in the A Grade 50m Freestyle, 7th in the B Grade 50m Breaststroke, 8th in the B Grade 50m Backstroke and 7th in the A Grade 100m Freestyle.

Mia Dodman (12) had finished 4th in the B Grade 200m Freestyle, 4th in the B Grade 50m Butterfly, 3rd in the B Grade 100m Backstroke, 1st in the B Grade 50m Freestyle, 6th in the B Grade 50m Backstroke and 1st in the B Grade 100m Freestyle.
25th City of Sheffield Swim Squad 'Tea Spoon' Gala

There were four member of Colne ASC taking part in the City of Sheffield Teaspoon Gala, held at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

Saskia Daly was competing in the 12 years age group (yes she did move up an age group as it was her birthday). She finished 25th in the 50m Butterfly, 22nd in the 50m Freestyle, 38th in the 50m Backstroke and 36th in the 50m Breaststroke.

Mia Dodman was competing in the 12 years age group and she finished 23rd in the 50m Butterfly, 31st in the 50m Freestyle, 33rd in the 50m Backstroke and 39th in the 50m Breaststroke.

Eleanor Fuggle was competing in the 14 years age group and she finished 13th in the 50m Breaststroke, 16th in the 50m Butterfly and 18th in the 50m Freestyle.

Daniel Fuggle was competing in the 12 years age group and he finished 17th in the 50m Freestyle, 15th in the 50m Backstroke and 14th in the 50m Breaststroke.
25th ASA North East Region Masters Championships

Three members of the Colne ASC Masters Team were competing at the Hydro pool in Harrogate in the North East Region ASA Masters Championships. The results used an age adjusted formula to determine the winner in each event.

Tony Catterall competing in the 60 years and over age group finished 9th in the 400m Freestyle (2nd in age group), 17th in the 100m Butterfly (2nd in age group), 9th in the 200m Backstroke (3rd in age group), 17th in the 200m Individual Medley (2nd in age group), 8th in the 100m Backstroke (1st in age group), 18th in the 100m Breaststroke (4th in age group), 11th in the 200m Freestyle (2nd in age group) and 13th in the 100m Individual Medley (1st in age group).

Philip Croxall competing in the 45 to 49 years age group finished 10th in the 400m Freestyle (2nd in age group), 12th in the 200m Individual Medley (2nd in age group), 16th in the 100m Breaststroke (1st in age group) and 11th in the 200m Breaststroke (2nd in age group).

Daniel Dawson competing in the 40 to 44 years age group finished 31st in the 50m Breaststroke (4th in age group), 35th in the 50m Freestyle (6th in age group) and 21st in the 100m Breaststroke (2nd in age group).
29th Friendly League

Colne ASC were hosts to Great Harwood Otters in their final league fixture of the season.

The visitors got off to a fying start as they won all of the backstroke races. After that Colne started to close the gap. In the end the poor start resulted in Colne losing by 4 points as Great Harwood won by 61 points to 57.

During the course of the evening the young Colne swimmers managed a further 38 new personal bests with 23 amongst the girls and 15 for the boys.

12th Annual General Meeting

There was a better turn-out at the Annual General Meeting, which was held on Wednesday, 12th October at the Pendle Leisure Centre.

There are now three new committee members; Christine Alko, Mark Turner and Cara Taylor. They will replace Cheryle Turner, Lucy Cowgill and Janice Smith-Shelley.

The three official positions of Welfare Officer, Trophy Secretary and Team Manager have also been filled.

Small pool teacher Deryn Ashby will be taking over the Welfare Officer's position from Cherry Wilkinson, who through illness, is unable to fulfill her duties.

The new Trophy Secretary is Davina Barraclough, and Cara Taylor has agreed to become the new Team Manager.
28th ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2016. Day One

There was over 1200 swimmers descending on Sheffield for the ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships (25m) 2016. Amongst them were two swimmers from the Colne ASC Masters Team. Tony Catterall was swimming in the 70 to 74 years age group and Philip Croxall in the 45 to 49 years age group.

Tony took part in the 1500m Freestyle where he finished 2nd in 24:28.47. In the 200m Backstroke he finished in 1st place with 3:36.97 and was 2nd in 400m Individual Medley with a time of 7:29.28. Philip finished 14th in 100m Breaststroke with 1:19.00.
29th ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2016. Day Two

The first event was 400m Freestyle where Tony finished 3rd in 6:12.45, whilst Philip finished 5th in his age group in a time of 4:50.12. Next for them was the 200m Individual Medley where Tony finished 2nd in a time of 3:32.23 missing gold by 0.88. Philip finished 10th in his age group with a time 2:36.61, his best for 5 years. In his final event of the day Philip finished 16th in 50m breaststroke with a time of 34.95, which his best for over 5 years.
30th ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2016. Day Three

On the final day of the weekend Philip was swimming in the 200m breaststroke where he finished 7th in a time of 2:53.74. In the afternoon there was the 100m Individual Medley where Tony finished 1st in a time of 1:35.82. Whilst Philip finished 11th in a time of 1:11.50. The final event of the weekend was the 800m Freestyle which was contested by Tony who finished 1st in a time of 12:43.31.

7th Betty Petty Style Trophy

There were 7 boys and 6 girls that participated in the first part of the competition. The swimmers were judged on their ability to perform a backstroke start and turn whilst swimming two lengths of backstroke. They then performed the grab start for the two lengths of breaststroke and used the track start for the two lengths of frontcrawl.

There will be a further night of judging on Thursday, with the results being announced at the Annual Presentation on Saturday, 10th December.
8th Cherry Wilkinson 1947-2016

After a short battle with cancer, Cherry passed away at 5:30pm surrounded by her family. She had been a teacher at the Club since joining in 1989. She had also been the Club's Welfare Officer and represented the Club at various meetings around the County.

She always wanted to win, but just as important was giving all the children a chance to prove themselves. She was patient with the children as she taught them to swim. Even though she struggled with arthritis, she was always there, maybe a few minutes late, but she would be there.

Cherry will be missed by all who knew her.
10th Betty Petty Style Trophy

A further 3 boys and 4 girls took part in the competition being judged on their ability to swim backstroke, breaststroke and frontcrawl, whilst demonstrating backstroke, grab and track starts

The results from both Monday and tonight will be announced at the Annual Presentation on Saturday, 10th December, at the Nelson Cricket Club.
14th Championship Gala Part One

There was a single record broken over the course of the evening as Rachel Leigh took almost a second of the old time for the Girls SC Taylor Shield 11 years and over 100m Breaststroke.

There were 12 winners for the 24 trophies on offer with Jacob Taylforth winning 5 events and his sister Georgia Taylforth winning 3. Kian Noon also won 3 events, with sisters Rachel and Charlotte Leigh winning 2 a piece.

Also winning two trophies were Eleanor Fuggle and Elliot Barker, whilst winning one trophy each were Kyran Denton, Max Harper, Mia Dowling, Olivia Taylor, Saskia Daly and Eleanor Holgate.
17th Championship Gala Part Two

There were no records over the course of the evening, but there were a couple of events within a second.

There were only 11 winners of the 24 trophies available, with three events not even contested as there were no 14 years and over boys competing.

The big winners on the night were Jacob Taylforth and Rachel Leigh who both one four trophies each. Winning two trophies each were Eleanor Fuggle, Kian Noon and Max Harper, with the remaining trophies being won by Amelia Redfearn, Charlotte Leigh, Daniel Fuggle, Emily Fenwick, Georgia Taylforth and Saskia Daly.
20th ASA Inter-County Masters Championships 2016

There were three members of the Colne ASC Masters Team swimming for Lancashire in the northern area ASA Inter-County Masters Championships held at the Palatine Leisure Centre in Blackpool.

Tony Catterall was swimming in the 65 years and over category in which he had two individual swims in 50m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke, along with two relay swims.

Stephen Tyler was swimming in the 45 years and over category in which he had three relay swims.

Philip Croxall was also swimming in the 45 years and over category in which he had an individual 50m Butterfly swim plus a relay swim also doing Butterfly.

The competition was between swimmers from five counties, in hosts Lancashire, along with Cheshire, Cumbria, Northumberland & Durham, and Yorkshire, who were the reigning County Champions. As defending champions, Yorkshire proved too strong for the other counties as they won the contest with a massive 292 points. The battle for second was between Lancashire and Cheshire, with former eventually finishing 2nd on 205 points with Cheshire in third on 189 points. Northumberland and Durham finished in fourth place on 156 points with Cumbria finishing on 117 points.

The final County Champions wont be known for a few weeks as the results from the other areas will be collated with this one, and if previous years are to go by it will probably be between Yorkshire and Warwickshire for the title.
20th Harrogate Autumn Meet 2016

Three swimmers from Colne ASC took part in the Harrogate District Swimming Club's 2016 Autumn Meet at the Harrogate Hydro.

Rachel Leigh (14) finished 1st in the 100m Breaststroke, 3rd in the 100m Freestyle, 4th in the 200m Freestyle and the 50m Freestyle, and 5th in the 50m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke.

Charlotte Leigh (12) finished 1st in the 100m Breaststroke, 3rd in the 50m Butterfly and the 200m Individual Medley, and 5th in the 100m Freestyle and the 50m Freestyle.

Saskia Daly (12) finished 2nd in the 100m Freestyle and the 50m Freestyle, 5th in the 50m Butterfly and 9th in the 50m Breaststroke.

1st Christmas Sprint Gala

There were no less than three new records broken at the Christmas Sprint Gala. Eleanor Fuggle set a new time of 14.06 in 14 years Frontcrawl beating Emily Cott's time of 14.16 from 2007.

In the Ladies Frontcrawl for Parents and Teachers Jolene Dowling set a new time of 15.25 beating Lucy Cowgill's time of 15.94 from 2012.

In the Gents Breaststroke for Parents and Teachers Steve Jackson set a new time of 17.22 beating Andrew Higginbottom's time of 18.09 from 2015.
10th Annual Presentation

The Annual Presentation was held at the Nelson Cricket Club on Saturday, 10th December. This was followed by a buffet and disco. Coach Andrew Croxall was the MC for the night, with musical support from the DJ.

The Bramhill Memorial Trophy was presented to Emily Massey, who despite suffering from sight and hearing loss, went on to represent the Club in external competitions.

The John Dobbin Memorial Trophy was presented to Lewis Thompson.

The Betty Petty Style Trophy was presented to Jack Nevison and Olivia Taylor.

This was followed by the presentation of the trophies won at the the Championship Galas, and this included the announcement of the winner of the Spot-On Competition. The winner this year was Mia Dodman who got within 0.07 of her submitted time. Rachel Leigh was 2nd within 0.31 of a second and Eleanor Fuggle was 3rd within 0.40 of a second of her time.

The Two Alberts Trophy was presented to Andrew Higginbottom for his services to the Club. Throughout the year he has been teaching the small pool classes, and has even answered the call to swim for the Club in the Friendly League.

The age group winners of the Christmas Sprint Gala were given their awards including the winners of the Parent and Child races.

The Club Captains for 2015 were announced as Elliot Barker and Nicole Baxter, with the 2016 Junior Captains being Jack Nevison and Caitlin Harper.
17th City of Leeds Christmas Cracker 2016. Day one

There were two swimmers from Colne ASC taking part in the City of Leeds Christmas Cracker 2016 held at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds. Mia Dodman and Saskia Daly were both competing in the 12 years age group.

Mia finished 11th in the 50m Backstroke, 19th in the 50m Breaststroke, 22nd in the 100m Freestyle and 27th in the 200m Freestyle.

Saskia finished 18th in both the 50m Breaststroke and Backstroke events, and was 24th in the 100m Freestyle.
18th City of Leeds Christmas Cracker 2016. Day two

Mia and Saskia both returned to the John Charles Centre for Sport on day two of the City of Leeds Christmas Cracker.

Saskia finished 3rd in the 50m Freestyle, 9th in the 50m Butterfly and 21st in the 100m Breaststroke.

Mia finished 7th in the 50m Butterfly, 8th in the 50m Freestyle and 19th in the 100m Backstroke
